Eltroxin is a thyroid hormone used to treat hypothyroidism.

How Taken

Missed Dose

Eltroxin interact with the following products– phenytoin (Dilantin); tamoxifen (Nolvadex); tolbutamide (Orinase); torsemide (Demadex); fluvastatin (Lescol); a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin), heparin, ardeparin (Normiflo), dalteparin (Fragmin), danaparoid (Orgaran), enoxaparin (Lovenox), or tinzaparin (Innohep); (Activase), anistreplase (Eminase), dipyridamole (Persantine), streptokinase (Kabikinase, Streptase), ticlopidine (Ticlid), and urokinase (Abbokinase). Patients taking the above mentioned drugs should consult a doctor concerning the dosage and possibility of Eltroxin usage.

Eltroxin may cause dizziness or lightheadedness. These effects may worsen if Eltroxin is taken with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Eltroxin Tablets with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to this drug. Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while you take Eltroxin Tablets. Proper dental care is important while you are taking Eltroxin Tablets. Brush and floss your teeth and visit the dentist regularly. Possible Side Effects
Among the possible negative side effects are- severe neutropenia (low white blood cells), thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), hemorrhage (gastrointestinal hemorrhage and cerebral hemorrhage), headache, indigestion, flushing.
