What is Parlodel?
Parlodel is a brand name for the drug Bromocriptine, a type of ergot drug. The primary way that Parlodel works is by regulating natural chemicals in the pituitary gland in the brain. Many problems can be caused if the pituitary is not regulating chemicals properly, particularly women’s health problems.
Parlodel may be used as a treatment for amenorrhea (lack of a menstrual period for 6 months), some female fertility problems, nipple discharge, and hypogonadism. Parlodel may also be used for treating other conditions including Parkinson’s disease, tumors, and diabetes.
How to take Parlodel
How to take Parlodel varies on a per-patient basis depending on the condition being treated and other factors like the patient’s medical history and response to treatment. Always take Parlodel precisely as prescribed by a doctor. Typically, the starting dosage of Parlodel is ½ to 2 ½ mg taken once per day. Daily dosage typically does not exceed 100 mg. To get the best results, Parlodel daily should be taken at the same time every day. For some conditions, Parlodel may only need to be taken during certain days of the menstrual cycle. This dosage may then be increased gradually until the optimal dosage is achieved. Parlodel can be taken with or without food.
Side effects of Parlodel

Patients may feel nauseous, have headaches, dizzy spells, feel tired, have stomach cramps, stuffy nose, or changes to bowel movements. Who should not take Parlodel
It may not be safe for you to take Parlodel if you have certain health problems. What happens if I take too much Parlodel?
Never take more Parlodel than you have been prescribed. It will not increase the effectiveness of the drug but just increase the chance of side effects or serious overdose. If you think that you have taken too much Parlodel, immediately get emergency medical help.
What is the difference between Parlodel and Bromocriptine?
Parlodel is simply a brand name for Bromocriptine, its active ingredient. Bromocriptine is also sold by other brands under different names or may be called “generic” Parlodel. Generic Parlodel and brand-name Parlodel are exactly the same in terms of efficacy, dosages available, and safety. Generic Parlodel is often much cheaper and may only be available to buy at a cheap generic shop online.
